Petersons Deluxe 11S 1979

Since acquiring my recent 9BC with P-lip stem, I've been searching for the right, true System Pipe. Dean Wakeman at http://www.estatepipeshop.co.uk/ had this 1979 hallmarked 11S on his site. I've also been looking for a 1979 year pipe,as that is when I graduated from High School (and I have a '79 MGB). I popped for this 11S Deluxe and it arrived yesterday. Deans preparation and service was excellent. He even included some British tobacco samples to try (Dockworker & Flanagan).
I really like the Vulcanite and P-lip combination. I smoked this one today and it was an excellent smoke. This is a larger pipe, but the shape lent itself to an easy hang. Like most Peterson's, it has a small fill on the heel.

I also had a wonderful purchasing experience recently with Dean. The price on a Petey Bulldog was really good, the pictures were great and the description was detailed. Shipping was fast and when I opened the box the estate pipe I bought appeared to be brand new! That's a testament to the quality refreshing work he does as well as his very conservative descriptions. Couldn't be happier with the purchase! He included some Ennerdale with my pipe, and, well.......no one can always hit homers!

Congrats, it looks wonderful. Somehow with all my estates I have never had a Peterson and have recently been looking as well. Thanks for sharing.

My early exposure to the P-lip was with low-end, acrylic, new Petersons and the experience wasn't great. Since then, I've always poo-poohed the P-lip. However with my 9BC and now this pipe, with a proper vulcanite stem, and the broader lip of the older stems, it's a very pleasant smoking experience.
Now, to find Pre-Republic 999, I've passed on the few P-lip versions Ive encountered.
