What, if anything, makes the Waterford pipe special? It's a well-priced, nicely stained pipe lacking a band (for once) which is quite unusual for a Peterson, but does the briar have any advantage advantages? PAD is setting in and I need everyone's advice. What do you think? There's one at TP calling my name.

I don't know of any specific briar advantages they have. The Waterford line seems to be a line limited to one year of production, with an acrylic 'cumberland' stem. It appears to be a mid-line pipe, typically that means few (0-2 small) fills.

Personally, I think the Waterford is a handsome pipe. I rather like the relatively plain and simple look of it. As you (may) know, I collect the X105 shape and if the Waterford were available in that I would certainly be acquiring one. As for quality, I would imagine it is similar to any of the other Petes in that price band.

I heard that before about the X105 shape. Can someone describe why this shape seems so popular? (I ordered the 106 Waterford, btw).

Whoops. Senility is catching up with me. I thought I had written something earlier about the same subject.
