Is it OK to remove the stem from the bowl soon after smoking (still warm) so as to clean out the moisture? I'm not sure but if the these pipes qualify as Military Mount/Bit, then it should be OK, right? I'd like to get a Q-Tip or pipe cleaner in the reservoir after each smoke, but not sure if I need to let it cool down first.
How do you maintain your Peterson System Pipe? Do you have a post-smoke ritual?
Thanks in advance.

I'd wait till it got room temperature. They say the shank can crack if its still hot/warm. I clean about every 6 to 8 smokes.

I don't know about Petersons in particular, but here is some good info from the people at Smoking Pipes:

I clean the sump along with the rest of the pipe after each smoke. I do allow the system Petersons to "cool" a bit before removing the stem. That's just habit from other pipes, it's not necessary though.

If it is this type (my 303):

then it is perfectly fine to remove the stem immediately after smoking. To clean the "system" part I use q-tips dipped in strong alcohol (and then dry with dry q-tips). There sure is a lot of crap in there after smoking (I guess that shows it really works).

I'm with it on cleaning systems immediately. . .if not for the fact that you can (and you can) then for the fact that the one time I forgot it seemed my pipe reeked the next day and I had to do a thorough cleaning to get rid of the smell.
