Peterson Shell-Meer X86 Republic Era

About to clean up this cool Peterson and thought I’d share with you guys. It’s a Republic era (1950’s) Peterson Shell-Meer X86 apple with long, straight P-lip vulcanite stem. It’s in really good shape, just needs some stem work and sanitizing. Can’t find anything online about them. If you have any details, or have one, please respond.

Yes, I see those quite a bit online, but can't find any reference to a meer lined Peterson Shell-Meer. I may keep this one. Love unique hard to come by pipes.

They are described in the 1950 and 1968 catalogs - I've never seen a 'Shell Meer'. My best guess is that the meer-lined pipes made in Ireland were designated with 'Shell Meer' and the ones made in England were 'Kap Meer'. Probably not as popular of an idea with the Irish.

I don't have any info to pass on to you but that’s a sweet pipe. I think it would look even better with a shorter stem but that’s of course a personal preference thing.

Update… this is the slowest, sweetest, most reliable pipe I’ve ever smoked. I don’t even have a close second!!! Only wish the bowl was bigger so I could enjoy it for hours.

A bowl that is too small for your taste is not worth keeping. I can send you my address so you can quickly get rid of such a useless pipe
