I was handed down my grandfathers pipe collection quite some time ago. One of those pipes is a Peterson Rocky Donegal with sterling silver band. This past weekend, my father and uncle were in the basement of my grandparents house and they found the original box and sleeve to it! So I made a vid of it all together again. Makes me wonder if there are any other hidden treasures of his pipe collection in the basement or attic. I posted it in the "show off your pipes here thread". He had a great eye for picking out beautiful pipes.

What a treasure, that collection. I have an heirloom round pipe rack in walnut with an amber tobacco jar

in the center, that sat beside my grandfather's chair and was passed along to my dad, and eventually

rescued from an upper cabinet shelf in the kitchen of the home place and sent to me by my younger

sister. I have an uncle who "lived large" who was a pipe smoker, and I've always wondered what became

of his collection, but it would be unseemly to ask. Your pipes are twice as valuable, once for their

value as historical pipes, and again as family history.

It's nice to know its out of the cabinet and back in action again. Some of my first memories as a child of my grandfather was him sitting in his rocking chair with his pipe and the tobacco jar & stand beside him. Smelling the sweet smoke in the air. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
