I'm giving this one a serious look. It's supposedly "new old stock #317 Peterson Premier System and comes with the box. Looks good to me, what do you think?

Did someone get it? I don't see it on eBay anymore ......
+1 what herbinedave said, 100 tops.
Be wary though, 317 is the smallest size System, so if you're looking for something to pack a half pound of baccy in at once, this one isn't it. I refer to the 317 as the "baby Pete". I have one in the "standard" System, not as nice looking as the "Premier", but still a sweet smoker.

herb-I believe the guy said it was from the late 60's. It had quite a few pics of it and I just snagged one of them.
rcstan-I need a smaller pipe for 10-15 minute smokes and maybe even one that's light enough for plastic teeth to hold. My Winslow Crown Viking weighs a ton and no way of being a clincher with that one.
That one is closing Saturday and I'll wait until final seconds to bid.

That would be a great pipe to keep at work. My Winslow holds about a half gallon of anything.

I picked up the Winslow Crown Viking partially rusticated tomato similar to yours, just a slightly shorter bowl than your bent apple. I could not believe how much briar goes into one of those. Pictures really don't do justice to the size either. It has a great feel smokes perfectly, but as you said, its definitely not a clincher.

Don't see it....even did a "completed" search. It's all good though.
You actually have to do a search for petersons 317(gotta add an extra s at the end). It looks like a nice little pipe colcort. Should be perfect for a quickie. I actually went the other way on my last Pete purchase. I ordered a #314 from Alloy Gifts in London off of eBay but it looked a bit small when it arrived. So I resold it on eBay(instead of returning it to London) and went with unsmoked estate Pete Premier #302 that I picked up for a bill. It's newer model with the green box and bag. Not that it will make a difference in the smoke but that old box and bag look really cool. Good luck if you decide to bid!

Nice vintage 317 colcolt you should go for it. I have a 317 and it is nice for quick smokes or a bit of flake. That Winslow is a beauty, I love that shape and gentle bend.

This was most of the description given for the pipe...
"The pipe is in New Unsmoked Condition and Has the original box , pouch and paperwork. It has a beautiful warm rich grain in the smooth finish. The pipe is marked Petersons Dublin and Made in the Republic of Ireland and the number 317(shape). Petersons nomenclature on side of stem , the Sterling Silver band is marked Petersons, Dublin and has the Silver Hallmarks. I believe it dates to the late 1960's and the original box and paperwork and pouch are all in fine condition."
The Winslow will hold all the baccy you desire to stuff in it no doubt about it and the looks of it is what sold me on it plus the deep bowl. I think I'm going to bid on the 317 later but don't let that hold anyone back that wants to bid also. Win or lose someone will enjoy it. :puffy:

I've been following the bids and it's went from $47 yesterday to $61 so far. Someone wants this as much as me but I'll sleeze in there toward the end and offer $150 the final seconds(not really) :D

Dammit! I missed this one by $2.50. I bid at the last five seconds $110 but, before I could go higher someone had already bid $112.50 so, I lost it...time was up

I've been kicking myself I didn't just go up to $125 like I started to. Oh, well-sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes the bug. :)I'm eyeballing a James Upshall and 2004 Dunhill Amber Root Classic Billard now.

Dang, I was hoping you would get it, Colcolt. I was watching it while it was at $61.00 but didn't bid. I wouldn't have gone over a $100 anyway. It seemed odd that there was no pictures of the hallmarks and any clear pictures of that side of the pipe. The only picture showing that side was at a bad angle and there was a huge dark area. Wasn't sure if that was a shadow or not. Just seemed odd.
