the bottom pipe is a pipe that was made to celebrate 100 years of the patent pipe 1890-1990

the top pipe I cant make out the COM mark but as it is a grade 3 it is the old grading system that ended in the late 50s I think.It looks live a shape 363 .third grade shape 313
probably the com is made in Ireland but if you can tell us or post a picture it will help narrow it down.There are no hallmarks on the ferrule as it is not silver but nickel ,the things you see are call faux hallmarks and are a shamrock.a fox and a tower

I haven’t seen the clover on a band before. Or atleast don’t remember seeing it. Is that something common?
I got nothing to add in terms of dating the pipes.
A couple of pretty sweet Petes, though. If that straight anniversary pipe has the same dimensions as the Esterval's listing, the chamber is a bit bigger than the last group of modern straight systems I'd seen. Makes them more feasible as a regular smoker, IMO.

The top pipe has a “3” in a circle. That represents a grade of pipe. That makes it a pre-republic from my understanding. It also means it doesn’t have a COM.
The bottom pipe is definitely the commemorative 100 year anniversary of the patent.

Yes, but maybe!! lol I have three Petes that have the grade stamp circled without the COM. I have multiple Petes that have the grade NOT CIRCLED and they all have COM. I realize I'm a small subsample, but that what I noticed. To be clear on the COM I'm specifically referring to how the stamping is applied or missing.

I have this Free State Era with a circled grade 3.
did the pipe I sold you with the made in Ireland com have a circle?

Oh, no doubt I have a few with both grade stamp and COM. I’m just saying I have more circled grade stamps without COM.
I’m a simple subset of one human. But it’s an interesting observation to say the least.
