Peterson Box Question

Hi Everyone,

Are Pipes that come in these particular Peterson boxes of any particular grade/quality?

I’ve noticed that some that I’ve seen are “Pipe of the year” pipes, but I think I’ve see Pete’s that weren’t POY pipes in them.

Or are these boxes just a different run of average Pete’s box style?

I think these boxes were used in the late Dublin era right before being bought by Laudisi. The pipes that went in them seemed to be what they considered the higher grade pipes. My 2019 hallmarked smooth system spigot came in such a box even though it's not necessarily high grade.

Up until few years ago, almost everything came in those boxes. Now I think almost everything come in paper boxes. Still have ton of those boxes laying around. Good for packing two pipes in there for moving.

My Pipe Smokers of Ireland Facebook group 2019 POTY came in 1 of those. My only Pete that did so. Nice box, so kept it.

Does the silver hallmark not indicate its either a '49 or '51 based on whether that letter is an 'O' or 'Q'? Others around here certainly know better than I. I'm actually not familiar with the markings or their meanings, but am aware that they do mean something. I tried to get the clearest...
