Was just looking put in my online order to replenish my tobacco supplies and have been smoking Peterson tobacco. I just noticed this new blend that came out called Balkan Delight from Peterson and have not been able to find any reviews. Have any of my fellow pipe smokers tried the Peterson Balkan Delight and how did you like or not ?

here is an excerpt from an online review
Latest news from the Balkan Delight trial:

After a week the first tin is almost gone. Sad, really. I've smoked it in several of my medium-sized Petes (301, 305, 312, 302, MT, Watson Junior, etc.). I've even tried it in a bigger bowl, the smallest of my 307s. I didnt try bigger because I didn't feel there was any need to go further. Everytime I finished a bowl, I felt I had smoked my fill.

This is the sort of baccy you don't get tired of. Smell- and tastewise, there's no doubt the Latakia dominates, but the peppery tinge I had noticed in the background, that's definitely the Perique.

Mind you, it's no Nightcap, there's almost no nicotine hit. At first I was a little disappointed, I had been expecting something punchy, but, on second thoughts, I like it this way, all the more since the evenings are really hot around here right now...

All in all, it's definitely a mixture I want to have on hand in my cellar.

05venturer, so glad to hear your report, since I have a tin on the way, with a couple of other selections. It sounds

like what I hope it will be. Mighty fine.

The big question for me is: who blends this for Peterson? Is it Germain (a la Hyde Park) or someone else?

I wish Peterson wouldn't confuse the issue by calling it a Balkan. Is it being blended in Germany

a good thing, or not so good? A Va/Lat/Per sounds good, sounds English.

I tried a couple of bowls from a complimentary tin that a fellow at work was kind enough to share. It has more than a "dash" of Perique. Imagine Old Dublin with less Latakia and a healthy dose of the Cajun weed. Left a funky aftertaste in my mouth. Good components, just not my cuppa.

It all sounds good, but I've been disappointed time and again by Peterson tobacco. Uni. Flake is OK, Irish Oak is decent, but the rest I've tried is not for me. Hyde Park is about the most awful thing I've ever put a match to, IMO! Not trying to be a downer, but I think I'll stick to my McClellands, Lanes, and Hearth & Home blends. Now, I think I'll go smoke me some Black House!
