I mentioned this pipe in a previous post and yesterday it arrived! I won this Peterson x105 Dublin 'USA' 'Around The World' pipe off eBay for $32.00. It's in excellent condition.
However, I did find a 'thumbprint' on the left side of the bowl. Looks to me like whoever applied the shiny finish left his autograph on the pipe. LOL. Yes, you can see a faint finger print lightly embedded in the finish. (Wondering if this makes the pipe more valuable? LOL) Has anyone else encountered this with Peterson Pipes? No worries, lovely pipe anyhow. I gotta say it's the best value in a pipe for the money I've ever purchased! Still cannot get over no one else trying to out bid me for this pipe.
Dedicated the pipe to W.O. Larsen Signature blend. Smokes beautifully.

Great pipe at a great price. About the fingerprint, it's also possible to have come from the original owner. Peterson tends to shellac the hell out of their pipes and it's possible the pipe got over heated during the initial smokes and allowed the print to take form.
If it were my pipe (not suggesting you do this), I would use some super fine micromesh and buff it out. No matter what, you got a great pipe - congrats.

durham270, That's a fine pipe at a thrifty price. I bought the Peterson Around-the-World series, Ireland pipe,

a bulldog with the Celtic Cross on the band, new, but I traded some pipes toward it so didn't have to shell out

much actual card/cash. I really like the series. Before I spotted this pipe, I seriously considered that U.S.A. pipe,

and ones for France, Italy, Germany, and China. I'm eccentric on this point, but I think the thumb print is an

attribute rather than a flaw. I think it came from the factory that way and I'd preserve it as part of the

character of this pipe. Part of the Japanese tea ceremony is admiration of the cups and tea service, which

are supposed to have little irregularities regarded as part of their artistry. I don't think you have to be

Japanese, or devoted to concepts of Zen, to appreciate this kind of individuality in crafted objects. That's

why people patronize antique stores, in part. Great buy ... enjoy!

Beautiful pipe and congratulations. I love the Peterson I have. Took a while to break in.
If I ever bought another Peterson I would probably soak the bowl in salt and alcohol before smoking it as they tend to dip the whole damn thing in whatever coating or stain they are using.
I had a ton of red stain come out from the inside of the bowl on the one I have.
