Hot buttered toast all the way down with perhaps a hint of marmalade. Very smooth. Deserves its exalted position. I have not seen such a soft tobacco with no stems. The flakes are small and thick compared with Orliks Golden Sliced and are easily rubbed to a fine texture. I put two in a medium briar bowl. That may have been too much as it is easy to over pack being so soft. Latakia is very subtle. May use some drying. I couldn't wait and was left with a bit of dottle.

I cannot wait to try my first bowl of the P. The only thing holding me back from the 20mi trip is the southern california traffic that can make that 20mi trip last over 2hrs! And I don't want to order it in bulk for the first bowl I have of it, the place in rancho has it in tins :) all the time from what I gathered last time I was in the place...I still kick myself in the arse for not buying atleast four of the tins the had out that day.
Thanks for the post anti...you make me want to make the trip this weekend. :puffy:

The brown truck came to see me today, brought me 16 oz's of bullseye luxury flake, 3.5 ozs rattrays hal o the wynd and 16 oz's of penzance.

I tried the luxury flake, awesome.

I am going to wait on the penzance till the wife goes to bed tonight to try that, so I can have some peace and quite while I try it.

Try Sterling's American Patriot - I think it is a pretty good match. It doesn't come in slices - just ribbon cut. And it is available. ;-)

DD951 I feel your pain of laying in wait. The brown truck came to my house today as well delivering a treasured order. I took the brown box from the driver and whisked it off to my shop. Too many times I have been scolded by the warden for spending too much money on my untreatable disease we know as TAD. If she caught me, it was simply supplies for a woodworking project. Having several in progress, it was not a stretch to claim that, and having been bored with examining the contents of other such orders, she would have no interest.
I opened the box, and there it was.....nested in with several other treasured bags of joy, the crown jewel, several bags of pure beauty; bags whose pictures that until now I had only gazed upon with adolescent desire. My hands trembled slightly as I gently slit open the top of the bag. I was presented with what can only be described as pure pornography for the senses. The fragrance was intoxicating as I took a long and deep breath; the fragrance was inviting, deep, subtle and complex. My trembling fingers felt the enclosed rich and dark cakes, neatly arranged on the enclosed tray. The cakes felt of pure magic; delicate, slightly moist, soft and light. I gently removed two cakes trying not to let them crumble, set them aside, gazing upon them with desire. Soon I would enjoy the pleasures I have waited for so long. I must now select the perfect pipe for this date. There is only one chance for that magical first time, and it has to be right. Yes, I think I will select my hand carved Jandrew made in Jerome Arizona, a pipe that has been true to me for over 25 years. My faithful pipe and a glass of fine scotch will make for the long awaited and perfect first date with the lady Penzance.
The plan is now set. I sit in wait for my wife to go to bed so I can sneak off to the back deck to enjoy the pleasures my lady Penzance. I feel like I'm making plans to sneak off to enjoy forbidden delights; alas they are not of another woman, but the delights of a fine tobacco I have waited long to enjoy for the first time.

Packed myself a bowl for an exercise in DGT...

I thought it wise since it is so moist.

Rubs out very easily with no effort at all.

We'll see how it does in my Chacom Church Warden.

Got some Penzance coming. Can't wait to try it. Generally I'm a huge fan of Esoterica tobacco.

I've had several bowls now and thoroughly enjoy it. Because of the lack of a steady supply, I'll stick with more accessible blends.
