I am about to recieve a Pear wood Zeppelin pipe from Lonestar that is in need of refinishing. This will be my first attempt at a referb. Was wondering if i could get some pointers so I dont muck it up.
I like to start with the finest grit sandpaper that will remove the dings and scratches. Usually 360 or 400.Sometimes you can start with 5-600,just depends on the condition of the pipe. Don't make to big of jumps between grits, you can't start with 400 and then go to 1000,unless you want to spend a lot of time trying to get the 400 sanding scratches out. I generally do 400,600.then 800 and then buff with my white compound. If you don't have a buffer keep sanding up to 1000 or 1200. The higher you sand it the better it will shine. What grit should I use...500, 1000, 1500?
