this show is an absolute broken record but i can't get enough of it. i love seeing all the history and stories that they get to see. i think if you could turn decent profit this would be a dream job.

I want the Apollo memorabilia they have in the store!
I like to play the "how much will they offer" game when watching Pawn Stars. The expert comes in and says an item is worth $10.000 - $12.000 at auction, so they offer $3,000 :)

The only thing I don't like about it is how Rick CONSTANTLY laughs at his own jokes... not even jokes, he'll make ANY sort of comment then follow it up with "Hee hee hee".
But that doesn't stop me from watching every episode.

I like that one too but LOVE Pickers. Now that seems like a cool job to have.

I like the show. Amazing how Rick knows so much about so many different fields. I do think he should stop saying "I have a guy" though when letting the seller know he wants it authenticated. Sounds more professional to say "I'll have the Las Vegas museum curator come in and authenticate it. And we can work on a price from there." To me it just sounds fishy whenever someone tells me they "Know a guy", especially in Las Vegas with our mob history lol.

Greetings,
I find the show interesting, but...a couple of things.
First, the obesity - WOW! - those guys really need to get serious about their weight. It's tough watching them waddle around the shop. I do think Cory is slimming down a bit. Good for him if he is. But Chumly! Come on buddy! That much weight is not healthy. It's a main line to Diabetes, heart disease, joint problems, etc. Now is the time to get serious while you're still young.
Second, Cory is just a plain idiot sometimes. On a recent show, he bought a vintage '70's era Husqvarna motocross bike. A bike similar to the one Malcolm Smith raced back in the day. From what I could see, the bike looked complete and was in decent condition considering it's age. A little restoration work and it would be worth a tidy sum. The growing vintage motocross racing community is always on the lookout for such rare bikes.
But what does "Big Hoss" Cory do? Completely ruins any value it had by turning it into a CHOPPER! A chopper for cryin' out loud! From a TWO-STROKE DIRT BIKE! I just about blew a gasket when I saw it. Stoooooopid! A little research would have paid off big time!
Anyway, the historic pieces brought into the shop are fascinating and educational. A worthwhile show overall.

Just stopped by the shop last week while in Vegas. As with most things, smaller than it appears.
Interestingly, my 9-y-o son is an enormous fan of the show -- which pleases me, as there's a ton of interesting history in most episodes -- so I picked him up a t-shirt and a fridge magnet.
Saw the antique Dunhill lighter with watch that they purchased a few episodes back.

Not too long ago I saw an antique meerschaum on that show. I think it was smoked by a previous US President. Pretty cool!

It's seem to me that while they may know the value of cars and bikes they don't know much about the mechanical end. Some of the things they have done to the cars etc they buy leave me scratching my head, such as that Jag. they turned into a pimpmobile.

Don't forget, a lot of what's shown is strictly for the cameras. Renovating a Jag is one thing, but pimping it out is strictly for the TV audience.
Don't forget the show has WRITERS.

cory is definitely my least favorite. lucky bugger is stepping into a million dollar business because

of the old man and his dad.
anyhow this show is head and shoulders above the american pickers who step over treasures to buy stupid oil cans and broken bike seats. how do they make ANY money.

I like the show, but I think that if the people selling their stuff would just auction the stuff they'd make so much more money. My mother read Rick's book, but had to stop because he just talked about how smart and great he is. I may try to stop by there when I go to Vegas next month.

If the customers just drove a harder bargain they'd walk home with more money. I think they give in too easily sometimes.
Of course, selling somewhere else would also give them a better price.

Some of the people that go in there are real dumb.
Customer- "Well that 'expert' said its worth $600 so the lowest I'll take is $600",
Obese guy- "I'll give you $200",
Customer- "It really mean a kit to my family..."
Obese guy- "$250 tops"
Customer- "I'll take it"
Wtf!?! Are you stupid? They just told you it was worth $600, go home and sell it yourself. Some people's kids...
