The Park Ridge Pipe Shop, in a suburb just northwest of the Chicago neighborhood of Edison Park,
operated in an old store front that backed up to the Chicago Northwestern commuter line, and had
a deep set front door with windows on both sides full of pipes and tobacco. It was open for many
years -- I would guess from about 1960 until perhaps 1990. For a time, it was a second home to a
large group of young kids who took the proprietor as a sort of mentor and confidant. I grew up in
Park Ridge, but was commuting to school in the city and later transferred out of state, so I never became
a steady customer. Does anyone remember this place, or have you ever heard of it?
