In fancier circles it's spelled parallelle. The van I drive is a bitch to parallel park because of the long wheelbase. Not as bad as an F250, but challenging with the constricted space generally available.

My wife lived in Manhattan for decades, and she had to have a car for her work, so she had loads of practice parallel parking. Bystanders used to applaud when she shoehorned into an impossibly small slot. She was even recruited by others to parallel park their cars. She's always goading me to squeeze into what I think are too small spaces. I've renewed my skills ... a little. Our medium sized city is fairly suburban, with plenty of free parking most places, so it is not a skill I use often. Practice is everything.

I recall sitting in my car filling out the paperwork after completing a service call and watching a woman make futile attempts at parallel parking in front of me. Mind you there was at least enough room for her to park two cars in that space and after three increasingly poor attempts she drove off. Apparently she parked somewhere nearby because she walked past my car and started berating me for not getting out of her way.
