Anyone know what they might have used to paint some of these 'vintage' briars? Seems like it was a short-lived concept, but my lizard brain sometimes likes it. Kind of considering buying this one or this other white Cuban one another seller has. Thanks.

I believe “the pipe,” “THE SMOKE,” and “Venturi” were all phenolic resin shells and not painted briar.
Thanks, now I've got some more refined search terms. I'm guessing this method died out for a reason though.

edit: I just found this website about these type of pipes. pretty interesting actually, a lot of science behind it. The guy that owns the sight is a collector and smoker of them, despite the general disdain for the design. There's some interesting science behind the bowl design as well. Venturi effect.

Well I was wrong about the original pipe but if anyone wants to post any painted briars, have at.

You’re welcome.

I have a “the pipe” and “THE SMOKE,” but am still missing a “Venturi”—I usually use them for tobaccos known to ghost briar pipes, so for me, I find the pyrolytic graphite chambers very useful.
