I just pulled the trigger and bought this little number.
It's a Guildhall by Comoy's. The grain on this really jumped out at me. The only problem is that I noticed it has a little fill after I bought it. Oh well, such is life. Check it out!

Congrats - a square panel Comoy is a classic. And a small fill is not bad really - many pipes have 'em. Enjoy!

Yeah I'm not going to get bent out of shape about it, though I've been toying with the idea of the whole digging the putty out and filling it with briar dust and super glue thing... No biggies either way. I can't help but wish they'd just leave the sandpits as they are.

Oh I know it's a guildhall. stamped right on the shank and that doesn't bother me in the least. I've seen some really spectacular guilhall pipe and thanks!

If the fill on that fantastic pipe bothers you send it my way. LOL

That's a beautiful pipe, Ulrich. I've got several Comoys and several of their seconds and they're all exceptional burners.
Birdseye doesn't get much prettier than yours, pard.

Wow. Was that an ebay find? Congratulations.
As for the TINY fill, it should be pretty easy to replace the fill with briar dust and superglue. I've done it with a Comoy "Sunrise" and it worked out fine. (I have ZERO woodworking skills.) It will turn dark, rather than pink, but that should go nicely with the contrast stain on your pipe.
Beautiful pipe, though. Thanks for sharing.
