PAD got the better of me this past week. Here's what kind of trouble I got into...
The first pipe I ever saw which I said "ew" to was a panel. However since that point I have learned to appreciate the panel for what it is.. and isn't. Never the less I wanted a panel for my personal collection, preferably by an American Artisan. But I do not like the typical panel, and well you know.. I always like "different".
From SP, A J&J Paneled Bent Dublin

I also wanted to add to my "European" collection, and, well, damn.. I just love apples!
By Chris Askwith of England, the perfect sandblasted Apple for me -

Finally, for something different. Anyone have a pipe with a stem made out of Juma? It's very very similar to vulcanite, with one important difference... it does not oxidize 8O ;)

J&J made a stem from Juma for this partially rusticated bent brandy.. I'll let you know how it performs ;)

All beautiful pipes. I don't know whether I like the panel or the blast better. For sheer distinctiveness,

the panel is really striking.

Congrats on all three! The Dub is definately a smart looking pipe, the Apple is stunning, and well I love the grain on the Brandy.
Interesting tidbit on the stem material.
Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful. I have heard good things about J&J.
You can't go wrong with an Askwith and that is a sweet one. What is the stem material on the Askwith?

Thank you all very much. I have smoked them all, and they all 3 smoke like a dream.
Peck, I do not know what the stem is made from. From SP: Chris Askwith makes "delicate and precise hand-cut stems from Lucite, Ebonite, Cumberland, and Horn. Each piece is fitted with a delrin tenon and can be a study in engineering perfection." It does not feel as hard as Lucite, but I could be wrong. Is there a sure way to tell?

It is Lucite/Acryllic.

Some folks hate those but I don't mind them. I must not have tiny little sensitive teeth.
