Hello, so i have a couple smaller pipes where i can barely even get my pinky in them, and i enjoy them way more then any other pipe even though i have to load it up more often. but i seem to be having issues packing it.
i was wondering if theres a better way to pack smaller pipes or if thats a normal thing or what, it goes out rather quickly within a couple minutes, and its slightly frustrating, i been messing with it over and over and over and trying different methods and different tobacco cuts and i just cant get the darn thing to co-operate, i know when im loading it that some of the peices dont just go right in, or i have to pick out the bigger chunks to not have to jam it in there to much just cause of one peice of leaf or cut.
so is there ways i can get around this or do i just keep trying different stuff till i figure it out.

Is your tobacco damp, or are you packing it too tight that it's affecting the draw?

no all my tobacco is dried out slightly after i got the tin before jaring them and they all work fine in my other pipes., when im packing it the draw is only very slightly effected like i assume it's suppose to be? i've also tried packing it looser and tighter with no success. i still get the most out of it doing the 3 step method.

Maybe a chopping board and a sharp chefs knife?
Slice, or chop it into smaller pieces?
I know you might be messing with the blend but it might make sense in a very small bowl.

I've a smaller pipe that I smoke from time to time and I like to use the swirl method to pack that one.

I'm a small pipe smoker and all I can tell you is pack looser then you think and the finer the cut the easier to smoke.

No contest implied brother. I find that cube cut flakes work great in the small pipes. C&D has a cube cut burley, and their deertongue blend "Crooner" is great in small narrow pipes.

well, went and had a smoke, i must say that swirl method was like a magic trick, i needed about 4 lights instead of 10-15, tried a smaller cut tobacco to. so that combo seemed to work, thanks guys.
