Thanks Baskerville, my guy is pretty educated and knows what I'm doing with it, told him nothing that is gonna kill me, don't want to become famous that way...or at least until my pipes are "up to snuff" and smoked all over the world..nice "pipe dreams"

Pistachio trees are also beautiful "on the hoof" as it were. I spent a season in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica on a coffee plantation and we had to cull a few of them; gorgeous wood, delightful foliage and amazing fresh nuts. They also make sweet firewood, I'd recommend some for grilling planks.

Back when I was still trying to make a living off of smoked seafood products, we used to make a "log" of cream-cheese, wrapped in pistachio-smoked (as opposed to the usual cedar smoked) lox which we would crust with sliced pistachio nuts from California. The smell of the lox smoking was absolutely amazing.

It's a major PITA to work. Hard as Hades and highly prone to cracking. It was used as sheaves for rigging on sailing ships. The raw blocks were shipped in barrels of linseed oil.

@Uncle A - How would you finish the olive wood? I just made a jaw-breaker poker for myself and I'm wondering should I just leave it unfinished or not?

I carved a cane top out of Ironwood for my mother...

Uncle is right... It's a PITA!

I attempted to make a pipe rest out of a block that I have...

I gave it up... for now, just too hard and will burn up a scroll saw blade.
