Orlik with no grade stamp

well, I happened to get a hold of this foursquare Orlik. Based on the stamp LONDON MADE, I'm kinda sure that pipe is pre-Cadogan, however, there is no stamp whatsoever to indicate the grade of this pipe, as you can see in the picture.
is this the same thing like Lane-era Charatans sometimes don't have the L stamp?

Beautiful pipe, but I was always under the impression that a foursquare also had a paneled bowl.

Unfortunately, Cakeanddottle’s site is gone. It was a great resource for many things, but particularly dating an Orlik. Jguss on this forum is also an Orlik expert. With luck he’ll help you out.
Your pipe is most assuredly pre-Cadogan. The original Orlik factory was in London. In later years it was moved to Southend on Sea and the stamping reflected this as “made in England” in a stamp similar to yours in style. No Cadogan era pipes are stamped made in London. Can’t help you with regards to grade though.

I've got a rusticated Orlik giant size pipe that is absolutely enormous. it is also stamped only Orlik over London Made. I have never smoked it as it would be three or four hour smoke.
It is a bent billiard with no shape number, but the stem does have a hand made stamp (obviously, no moulded stem was ever made that big).
I too would be interested in knowing more.

Hmmm... I would say an older pipe, and most likely pre-war. The older version of the inlay was finer, with the "bullseye" in the middle larger relative to the "gauge" of the brass material. By the 1920's, Orlik used the type of lettering seen on your pipe, as opposed to the even earlier script marking. I had a feeling it was an older pipe just by looking at the lovely grain. It's a beautiful pipe!
