My local shop has a few Orlik "Old Bond Street" black sandblasted pipes on display and one is a nice looking bulldog for around $50. I've been wanting to add a bulldog to my collection but I'd rather over pay for a poor quality pipe. Does anyone have any info on what the Orlik line is about?

I just got a Bond street bent bulldog on ebay for $20. I have not smoked it yet though. It is a good looking pipe, hope it smokes as good as it looks.

Blue:
Orlik was a one of the fine old English pipe making houses and, like many of their contemporaries, was swallowed up by the Cadogan group.

Now, if your sandblast bulldog is a good smoker then it's money well spent. I prefer estate burners and fifty bucks can buy a whole lot of pipe if you don't mind scrubbing off somebody else's DNA.

This blog post will probably convince you to go for it:

The easiest way to tell of what vintage they are is the stamping, if it's sans serif then they're the old ones, quite a find if they are new-old-stock and would be a must buy!
Even if they're Cadogan-era they'd probably still be a nice quality pipe and for a brand new one I'd say that's a great price!
I don't have a proper Orlik as of yet, but I do have one of their 2nds, a Matchless liverpool that smokes like an absolute dream, it has thicker walls than the usual old British pipe and it's built rock solid.
The old ones with the brass inlay O on the stem are sought after, especially if it has a hand-cut stem, which they offered on the higher grades.
I say go for it!

A promising bulldog in that price range would be Nording's economy pipe, an Eriksen. You can look at these

on Cup O Joe's site. I don't have a bulldog, but the bent billiard Eriksen I have is one solid, well-drilled,

compact pipe with plenty of bowl. I think you'd be entirely satisfied, and I believe they are priced a bit under

$50. However, the Orlik sounds fine, and might have the English-made pizzazz.
