Your dentist should also be checking routinely every 90 days when you get your teeth cleaned.
My dentist loudly and slowly annunciates that he’s checking for CANCER as if he is making some sort of statement and I imagine it is because he’s trying to teach me a lesson.

Have a routine cleaning at the dentist later today. The dentist usually pops in for a check so I'll see what he says.
Last month, I started getting this knot in my cheek, and when I went to Google to see what beginnings of mouth cancer looked like. There were no pictures of very early signs. They were all just disgusting advanced stages. My dentist worked me in immediately. Turned out it was just a mucocele, and he told me to eat hard candy.
Anyways, it was a few hours of stress, but the dentist quickly absolved those fears.

No. Just the professional most of us see regularly. Your GP can do it also. And, there are specialists should you prefer.
In the UK I'm lucky to see the dentist once a year.

Normally yes, and the dental hygienist while cleaning your teeth.
When on my second ship, at one time we got a noob aboard straight out of boot camp, who at the ripe old age of 19 had already been diagnosed with pre-cancerous lesions in his mouth. Seems he (and maybe everyone else local to his hometown) had been chewing tobacco since an very early age.

I have all but one of my teeth which got knocked out in a dirt bike incident.
My dad is 85 years old and has every tooth he was born with......you know what I mean.
I often THINK about making an appointment. But then the thought fades. Due to this thread, I'm going to follow through.

I’m sure I’m doing this wrong. I got my oral screening from Trixie and Saphire behind the 7-11 in downtown Vegas.
I was thinking, "Oral Cancer" is an odd name for a movie, but...whatever.
