Does anyone have an opinion on Chacom pipes? My local B&M recently expanded their selections to include a whole display case of nice looking Chacoms. I've done some research online and really found a mixed bag of info on them being well made all the way to crap. I'd appreciate some experienced pipe smoker's opinions from this forum before I jump. I'm heading over to the shop tonight so going in educated would be better than just saying "oooohh purty pipes!!!"

That is a nice looking pipe Zonomo, I'd like to show pictures of the two I'm considering but the shop's website doesn't have them listed (which is good so they don't sell out too quickly). I can't decide on a straight or full bent.

I love mine, and am smoking one right now coincidentally. I think they're great, underrated pipes for the money. If one catches your eye, it's worth it.

I love mine. I got it for a steal on the bay and I think it was worth way way more then what I paid for it. I have been on the look out for another one since. I primarily collect Savs but I am looking to add quit a few Chacoms if they catch my eye. The link to mine is below.

Does anyone have an opinion on Chacom pipes?

I purchased one many-many moons ago, back when they were basket pipes.

I have to admit to liking the shape and adding a churchwarden stem when it was new.

It has been, and continues to be in my "Churchwarden" rotation ever since... going on 30 (ahmmmm) years now.

It is worth every penny of the $10 I dropped on it. (in today's money... priceless. :D )

Heading out to the shop in a few minutes to get my new Chacom, I've read enough on them to sway me to buy. Hope the one I liked is still there, pictures to follow gentlemen.

Recently purchased a bent prince from Smoking pipes. I am very happy with it.

Drilled beautifully and smokes really well. Great value for $63

Unfotunately the shape I was looking for was sol so I ended up with this nice Lorenzetti sandblasted. Nice big chunk of briar, thick walls and very comfortable bit.

I've seen some comment on French pipes not being up to English, Italian, Danish, and maybe Irish pipes. I have a Jobey that is marked France,

although they were made in the U.S. for a time. It's a good pipe, good price and fine smoker. About two years ago, I traded into a new

Chacom Dublin, a slight bent slender stemmed pipe with striking balance and visual appeal. However, the stem was so slender, it kept

skinning fluff off the pipe cleaners; I've never had that problem before. It would get clogged, and I would clean it out, and it would get

clogged again, and I finally traded it for something that worked out better. But after the testimonials here, I might consider another Chacom,

if I could buy it in person and run a pipecleaner through it first, to see if it was drilled open enough. They are some of the more

handsome pipes at a good price.

I have several older Chacoms, and concur that they are great values, at least in the US. French pipes in general don't get the coin and they are often Best Buys.
