Purchased a pound of G and H Kendal flake from a nice guy at the Chicago Pipe show. It has been aged in a canning jar since 2008. When i got home a buddy of mine mistakenly opend it and boy what a pop it made. So i am assuming its aging days are over and its time to smoke smoke smoke..How should i store this tobacco while i slowly consume it this summer? Or should i invite all of you over for a smoke and quickly consume it? Thanks in advance for all of your support...The new guy!!!

Exactly what they said...you won't have any problems at all as long as it's an air tight seal, enjoy! :puffy:

I believe it was G L Pease who noted that even an opened jar of aged tobacco will continue

to age once it's been resealed; except that it will age differently because of the reintroduction

of oxygen and (probably) new bacteria. I've never noticed much change in the tobaccos I've

jarred, but I continue to do so because it keeps the tobacco fresh.

You mean to tell me you can open the jars . I find it best to let a thick layer of dust settle over the lid before opening . Other wise it is just storage. :D
