Oom Pauls may look kewl, but they are more trouble than they are worth, IMO.
For me, that goes for anything more than a half-bent. I like to get a pipe cleaner thru the stem, all the way to the bowl. If I can't, I'm annoyed with the pipe.

Ya'll can just PM me, I'll take all those "unsmokeable" Oom Pauls off your hands.

I have 6 now. I'm heavy on bent pipes. Just take a little finessing of the pipe cleaners to clean them out as any other pipe.

I like Oom Paul pipes and Tyroleans a whole lot. Here's one for when the Dr. says to stay away from tobacco.

The OomPaul is a rare shape in the Meerschaum world. I only have

one, an estate Paul Fischer. It smokes well and I cannot say that

I've experienced getting smoke in my face from smoking it. The

shape is notorious for being difficult to pass a Pipe cleaner, which

is what I believe the previous owner experienced, as I cleaned the

Pipe up. On top of that, Paul always used bone screw joints. Fortunately,

I've been smoking Meerschaums with bone screw connectors since '69,

so I know a few Pipe cleaner tricks.

Is that a carving of an insect wearing a uniform on the pipe?

I thought it was a lizard. . ..
Love this pipe shape though myself, can't wait to get some of my own.
dammit, no -- no more buys *sighs* such an expensive hobby, I think it might even be working out to be more expensive than cigars. Even though A year's worth of tobacco only cost as much as my one most expensive pipe (about 110)

Navy Flake Tobbaco lightly rubbedd seem to have been a soultion here..I have finnlay got the hack of smoking this...matter of fact this pipe may have been made for flake tobbaco in the first place...You can recoup your investment in antique pipes...as far as old cigars I dont know..with the pipes you have something to pass down to your heirs

Yes. With estate pipes.. if they are not trash, they have value and history on their side. I like smoking a pipe I obtained from estate and thinking on what it may have seen, what was thought by the previous owner. All sorts of things. I also think a good pipe gets better with age like wine -- IF it's taken care of.
