So, something just crossed my mind and I'm a bit bothered/confused...
Why don't our major online suppliers sell jars for our tobacco? Seems like a no-brainer.
Ok, it is another thing to stock. They're delicate space hogs and people will find a way to complain. Yadayadayada
I'd love the convenience of ordering my bulks and a jar for them at the same time. Anyone else?

Wouldn't be the easiest things to pack and ship, and the margins probably aren't great. I imagine the retailers aren't necessarily thrilled having to ship the Briarworks jars, honestly.
Just the weight alone would probably alter their ability to offer free shipping.
I personally would still get them at Walmart for the convenience/price.

Derned shipping... The bane and beauty of online ordering.
Still, I feel there's a great way to incorporate jar sales, some idea that hasn't been thunked up yet.

Heck, I'd be willing to pay extra for shipping just because of the convenience of it. I'd love to be able to order a jar with my bulk orders.

Fellas. You can buy a little flat of jars all over town. Why not just have one at the house and you can jar whatever you want, whenever you want.
Cheaper and more convenient! Chances are, you go places where there's jars all the time.

I just peel the logo stickers off bulk bags and put them on my ball/mason jars. They look cooler. 8)

I get a flat of four Ball pint jars for just under $5 at Walmart. Four of them will hold a pound of ribbon, and two pounds of cube cut.

I just wish I could find better jars than the bail top affairs I buy from my local Asda (owned by US giant Walmart). Initially I thought them to be perfect but after only a few months I notice my baccy slowly drying out

Jay.

Seems easy enough, but the problem would be the price. P&C could easily have a third party link from one of the jar dealers on Amazon. They process the order and the Amazon company ships the jars. But, to make it equitable to handle the processing of credit cards, all the expenses of merchant services and the like, they would have to charge $12 on a $9 flat of jars, and they would not make a dime on it. Just $3 more and guys would be hemmin' and hawin' all over tarnation that P&C was price gouging them! ripping them off! outrageous! and the like.

Nope, I don't think you'll be seeing jars on there.

I'm sure these retailin' folks have discussed this more than once. If there were a way to offer the service and still make a buck - they'd have found a way to do it by now.

We definitely talked about selling mason jars on the site in the past. The problem of weight (and size) was one of the issues, along with resolution if broken during shipping. We even investigated having a similar style jar made of polycarbonate that would partially solve the weight and breakage issues, but to have something custom-made for the purpose would require ordering a much larger quantity than we would feel comfortable doing. Considering that most people live within a reasonable distance to a supermarket or home improvement store that carries them, plus online sellers, we chose not to bring them in.

Thanks for the input, Russ! Honestly, this is just a convenience thing. I'm a lazy SOB and I like the idea of getting one box with everything already in it. Glad to hear you guys already thought it through!

I inherited my grandparent's huge collection of canning jars. But, my Granddad used to go and ask for the jars whenever someone from his generation passed away, knowing that the younger generation would have no use for jars. So, I inherited a room full. But, you might find large collections of jars being sold on Craigslist or ebay. If people know the value of what they have.

I also have a blue bazillion jars, as my grandparents-in-law give us a pallet of canned goods every year when they come down from Washington. Homemade jams, sauerkraut, peaches, applesauce, apple butter...
I use a goodly amount of those jars, but I still buy flats from WalMart, as I like to have specific sizes (widemouth for everything, etc). I also buy the lids and rings from Amazon for super cheap.

Beauty, that's what. Basically a tasty apple spread that is somewhere between jam and applesauce.
Look up a recipe, make it, and find out what you've been missing!

What on earth is apple butter?
Nectar of the Gods!!
A spicy concoction that will last forever in storage and make cold winter nights sing of warmth and plenty. You folks don't make it across the pond? I can now say I feel truly lucky I know how to make it. The Amish sell a lot of it over here in the fall season.

Briarworks does, there are some others but they escape me right now, I wouldn't recommend ordering from P&C though, their crappy packing you would be sure to get a box of glass shards
