Is there any issue with leaving a Meerschaum pipe half-smoked for several days? I'd like to have my first smoke of the year in mine but the bowl is cavernous and I just don't see myself finishing it in a ~30 min session, even if not packed to the top.

Of late, I've taken to just leave the unfinished pipes in their sock and picking them up a few days later, but with sepiolite being super absorbent and all, I'm not sure if I'll run into issues.

From my experience you're probably okay. Long story short - a friend smoked half a bowl God's Green Grass in one of my meerschaums. I think it was only sitting a day or two but it cleaned out just fine - faint smell on the first bowl but some latakia "clears" it right out ?

When they say a meerschaum doesn't really ghost, they weren't kidding.

Interesting.

I was also concerned about the tobacco in it, though. Like, will it go crumbly dry? I'm smoking an aromatic and I'll put the half-smoked pipe back in its case and keep it there till next smoking session, maybe a day or two after to-morrow, God willing.

For me, usually the next day is no problem. My concern would be the tobacco going sour before being too dry? Or maybe those are one in the same problem...

I think you’ll be fine. I’ve done this many times.

How's it coloring?
It came pre-coloured. Besides, due to its abysmal chamber I've only smoked it like 4 times since I bought it.

Actually, not only because of the chamber capacity, but because I've found that my continuous relights don't play nice with full bents: my tongue is right in the jetstream due to my tilting the pipe upwards in order to see the chamber when I'm lighting and it's a sure recipe for tongue burn.

I've found that leaving the unsmoked tobacco in a meerschaum really helps with the coloring, especially if the tobacco is an aromatic.
I put off cleaning them just prior to the next smoke. Seems to help with the coloring as well.
