Hi folks, Just picked this Peterson , which seems to be an early version but am not sure.
The Dublin hallmark looks like a C, which looks like 1944
No stamps on the briar i can see.

I appreciate any advice or opinion regarding the date of this pipe.
Many thanks in advance Scott.

Please show the stampings on the bottom of the pipe. That would be helpful.

i do have a 1979 Doney rocky xl 02 and rustication looks similar and I also have worn out stampings on the flat spot.
I agree it's a rocky Donegal, and Peterson stampings often don't go far into the the briar. I do see faint remnants on the back that I tried to read with a magnifying glass with little success. Maybe @scottb will have better luck with the pipe in hand and will post a clearer photo of it. I'm wondering why the name "Peterson" is blanked out on the band. Maybe @ashdigger has a thought or two on this?

There are Hallmarks under the words Sterling Silver. As you stated, it looks like a small c (although a better pic of the hallmarks might help). That being said, small c is 1970 which seems in line with others comments.
