I have become fascinated with old films featuring our pipe smokers engaged in their everyday work. Issac Button was a English potter who made everyday items for regular people. He never called himself an "artist". He did his work with expertise and dignity. He enjoyed smoking his pipe.

...and for those pipers interested in this topic...
All due respect to the celebrity heroes that are usually posted here: Danny Kaye, Edward G. Robinson, Fred MacMuray, Albert Einstein, etc.. In this topic, I would rather see images of everyday, working people of the past. Hedging with a Country lass (found at Ivory Smoking Lounge).

Very cool, thanks for sharing. Given your interest I wonder if you've seen the 1925 film of beekeepers in the Netherlands. It features a lot of pipe smoking. Although it used to be on Youtube I can only find Facebook links to it now. Anyhow here it is: https://www.facebook.com/tapcomb/videos/1827720377316489/
Very cool. That dog is looking kind of stressed out at the beginning. Also, I imagine those briars were getting pretty hot given all that puffing to smoke those skeps.
I wonder what those bee men were smoking. Semois or Capstan or local homegrown perhaps.

These are very interesting to watch. Thanks for posting them.
Looks like I have a new rabbit hole to go down on YouTube.

Always fascinating to see an experienced person doing their job well, with the artistry that accompanies that in so many jobs, smoothing a concrete driveway being poured or doing cabinet work. Maybe it is just me, or my device, but it was a great relief to see video without it being accompanied by some narrative blather or horrific music. The images can be enough and plenty.
