Not Me!....... That one has Al Jones written all over it!....... :D

I'm in the process of selling all of my smooth pipes, as I age, I find that the tactile feel of a Sandblast is more to my liking......

I've been shifting more to blasts in recent years as well. And that does look like an Al pipe.

The chamber is a little out of round (see wall thickness), and why do all of this seller's pipes look (to me at least) like the color of the staining/finish is always so faded? A neat old Sasieni, but still...

As an Ashford fan, I was watching that one, but my Ashford itch has already been scratched several times (but no pre-WWII era model). That did go a bit lower than I would have expected. The stain does look slightly altered, perhaps that was enough to put off the bidding.
This Specialty Selected, double-one Dot was fun to watch and went a tad higher than I expected. That is definitely a combination that is not often seen.

That's actually more than a tad lower than a more original specimen is worth. The color is very dark (or darker than I would expect), and what's up with the way the stinger is set in the tenon?!?

The stinger picture isn't real sharp on my phone, I can't discern an issue.
The Ashford faithful may have spent their money on this one, that also ended yesterday.

There's 12 pictures...no stinger shown, and also the one thing that could vouch for originality, the tenon end, is also not shown (I guess I just get a bit picky on these older collectable pipes). From the same seller, are you going to tell me there isn't something wrong with this picture...?!?!

It's good to be skeptical. Fit on the stem to shank join leaves a bit to be desired, always something to look for when the finish is particularly worn near the join.

Could be a removable stinger that wasn't pushed back in all the way. Not all of them were permanently affixed to the tenon. I've got an old eight dot with a removable stinger.

Could be, the original earlier stingers were push fit, and later screw fit, as I recall.

You're in for a real treat. He makes an amazing pipe but particularly the button/stem work is out of this world.
I got a pipe from him last year and it is by far my best pipe. I wish I could afford to have him make me a 7 day set.

Because Chance is as bad a photographer as he is a good guy in every other way.
You'd think when selling items on the Internet where you're restricted to only words and pictures---and the word part means little (talk is cheap)---that no stone would remain unturned regarding photo quality. Especially when an entire family depends on those sales. (Fact: decent digital pics in 2017 do not require a lot of money or effort: The shop photos I post occasionally are taken hand held under a workbench desk lamp, and the staged shots in a $100 light box. The camera cost $300 five years ago, and the software was $18 ten years ago. As for effort, the "processing" of a photo, from plugging the camera into the computer through editing/cropping/etc, uploading to a host site and receiving a post-able link back, takes about two minutes. Less per pic if doing a batch of them.)
Chance called a while back to see if he could spend a shop day or two with me following the KC show in September. I think I'll probably end up showing him as much camera stuff as shop stuff. Definitely more bang for the buck, given the number of pipes he lists. (The quality of the restoration doesn't matter if you can't SEE it.)

Yep, Chance' pix drive me nuts, I hope he pays attention to your tutelage.
For an older One Dot, I don't have an issue with this stem fitment. (heck, as a newer Four Dot I wouldn't have an issue with that fitment)
