I guess i'm just posting here because I am not a big fan of Rockwell. Even as a disconnected observer of history I don't even really find him that fascinating really. BUT! There is one thing that seems to stick out repeatedly and that is how often he is mentioned in conjunction with Missouri Meerschaum.
On this site there is a cartoon which shows:
Mark Twain, Great american writer, plenty of interesting literature to read and research to do.
General MacArthur, Decent though meglomaniacal General, certainly tons of interesting research to do.
President Hoover, Gets a bad rap in the lists of presidents, mishandling bonus army crisis didnt help, but still somebody who I could probably have a conversation with.
And finally ROCKWELL! really?
Why does he come up so much? is Missouri Meerschaum proud to have had him as a customer? Have I accidentally been buying pipes from White Supremacists this whole time?

Interesting. I don't remember having seen that cartoon you are referencing. Are we sure we are talking about the correct Rockwell, and not the illustrator?
Besides, in these references to famous pipe smokers, numerous unsavory characters crop up. I think you could safely characterize Stalin as "rude", and Paul Kruger as "less than sociable", but I don't see any reason to take offense at the mention that they were pipe smokers.
I have never seen George Lincoln Rockwell associated with the Missouri Meerschaum company anyway. For all I know, he could have been a Buescher's man, or a fan of H&B instead.

George Lincoln Rockwell was the founder of the American Nazi Party, Norman Rockwell was a famous mid century Illustrator as @jabo stated and I don't see any references of either on this forum.
I think the OP my be mistaken but if he is referring to George then consider this, he had a successful naval career, as an Aviator as a veteran of World War II and Korea. His political views eventually ended his 19 year carer short of retirement but he did receive a honorable discharge. George was a pipe smoker
I can find no connections of Norman Rockwell and White Supremacists, he also was a pipe smoker

I'd guess the Morgans of MM fame would be fine with showing Norman Rockwell with one of theirs stuck in his mug; not so the other Rockwell. But anyone can pose with a pipe of any maker at any time. Doesn't mean they're smokers in any event.

"I have never seen George Lincoln Rockwell associated with the Missouri Meerschaum company anyway."
Aldecaker, though not directly connected to MM, we have the following...
Rockwell supported General Douglas MacArthur's candidacy for President of the United States. He adopted the corncob pipe, following MacArthur's example.
Regards,
Jay.

Well, sure, he may have enjoyed their product. I'm just pointing out that I haven't seen the MM company make any association with Rockwell using or endorsing their product. Just for the record, I personally would no more emulate MacArthur than I would Rockwell.

Vegas Baby!!!
So let me get this straight. Because a person smoked a Corn Cob Pipe someone is upset?
And even though a person is not directly connected it's a smear on MM?
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME.
Someone has way too much time on their hands.

It's pretty tenuous at best, and I wouldn't think it would be any cause for concern. If it were, I'm certain Morris Dees and the SPLC would have MM listed as a hate group. Since that hasn't happened, seems like a non-issue. I don't think you're inadvertently supporting any white supremacist organizations with your pipe purchases.

This is what happens when some don't agree with a persons political view, I have differences with others but Id rather agree to disagree and build on the common interests, in this case pipe smoking, if some dont agree with that line of thinking then maby they would be better off in their "safe place".

I didn't do enough research! THAT BEING SAID! There is a reason I asked you guys, and I have no idea how this turned into accusations of emulating the most regressive liberal habits that have come up of late. I think if sombody, on this forum was concerned that they were supporting people, who think that his girlfriend, or his best friends wife were racially inferior, it would be a valid concern, and one deserving of a good answer like: "Its the wrong Rockwell, They really are referring to Norman". Instead I saw some stuff about safe spaces?
BUT anyway,
Thanks for pointing out that they were celebrating a Rockwell who didn't pop up in my mind. This concern first started when I saw Scott talk about prominent pipe smokers on his blog. After seeing that I found a bunch of people on predictable sites talking about how they adopted the habit because of Rockwell... Then a google imagesearch led me back to a site I joined a while ago (here)... And I guess Norman slipped my mind as a reference.
also no ashdigger that's not what happened. If I delivered lumber to the KKK I would be doing my job and really wouldn't have a way of refusing considering that I probably drove it 800+ miles already. BUT If I told all my friends that I made a cross burning possible and was proud of it! Then I think they would have reason to be concerned about continuing my friendship in a way that they wouldn't with the first scenario.
I don't care that George Rockwell may have smoked a Missouri Meerschaum. I would care if MM touted that as if they were proud of it.
I don't believe that George Rockwell and I could have any possible room for fellowship. I am in an Interracial Relationship (Its pretty long term), and besides if it didn't work out I have only dated black women since about Sophomore year of high school. So I think he would be pretty annoyed considering he didn't like racial integration...

Mick, I think the angst with your OP, at least for me, comes from the way it's worded.
It's very ambiguous but then you throw MM under the bus.
Simple not an idiotic thing.
