Was it Oak Alley or the pipe? Is this a blend that works for you in a different pipe? Or was the whole experience a bust?

Well first off, I am fairly new to the hobby, so keep that in mind. I have only ever purchased one tin of Oak Alley, and I find it to be an exceptional blend. I smoked it first in my cob, but lately I've been smoking it in my Peterson Apple, and every smoke I've had in the Apple, probably 6 or so, have been really good experiences. The two just seem to go great together. Today I thought I'd switch it up, just to see how well the wider/deeper pot shape might go with the tobacco. It was pretty much a complete disaster from the initial light. I'd say I packed it just fine and everything, too, and it wasn't too dry and definitely not too moist. I have read countless opinions about which blend goes best with certain shapes, so I don't want to get into that at all. I do know one thing for sure: this blend smokes great in my Apple. I just wanted to rant a little is all.
