It is really hard not to find myself whiling away the afternoon browsing the WAYS thread here, or the pipe catalogs on the various retailer sites. And then it is even harder to not buy a pipe when I land on something that really catches my eye.
I decided I needed to give Peterson another chance and get a pipe that didn't start with the things that bothered me by my first pipe -- so this one is sandblasted (and not terracotta) and is the fishtail stem. It's also my favorite overall shape for pipes, a bulldog. The silverwork is beautiful as usual and has the harp stamped into it. The pipe is a bit larger overall than my 999 and I like that. And lastly, it was just under the 'impulse-buy' financial threshold. I'm going to give it a go this evening when it cools down a bit.
In the meantime, I think I'll just innocently peruse some estate Parkers...
