In between appointments today I stopped by a small antique store down-state and asked the owner if he had any pipes. He handed me a small hinged box and said, "Just this one and I've got to have 15 bucks for it."
It's no meer and feels more like a stone of some sort. I ran across an old post in another forum where guys were speculating that it was limestone, pipe stone, soft rock, etc. The stem is definitely vulcanite and the bowl has definitely had something burned in it. My guess it wasn't tobacco. The detail of the figure is quite good.
Has anybody ever run across one of these before?
