While searching for vintage pipes in a junk shop I found a box of Playboy mags dating from the late 1960’s in the original FPO jackets addressed to a engineer serving on the US ship Kitty Hawk during operation rolling thunder off the coast of Vietnam. My older brother now deceased served in the same engine room at the time. He often related the extreme conditions of the constant roar of the jet planes from the deck. I wonder if they knew each other.

Carrier duty was rough. I asked for a minesweeper and I got one. Pretty small, unpredictable ride (pitch, roll, and YAW!) from that round bottom hull made entirely of wood, but no damned jet planes. We were in Operation Market Time off Vietnam, sent up north for patrols that lasted for months. I was lucky tending radio gear that needed its air conditioning. We were just its lucky minions. Our main battery was -- wait for it -- a mortar! On that rolling deck. What were they thinking? When I left the ship for other duty, they had realized this and were installing twin machine guns. I didn't find any Playboys aboard.

one thing the internet has ruined is old porn. For example when I was a young man you could test the experience level of another dude by how gullible they where with Penthouse Forums. If they thought they where true and not fiction not very experienced. Though the highest level of experience with that would be the oh man I know her, by the way she was happy to find out about it.

Whenever I hear 'Playboy' mentioned I always think of that hilarious episode of 'Married With Children' where Al's dopy wife Peggy got rid of his prized collection of Playboy mags....it was pure classic comedy!

Some years ago I took to the local tip a whole suitcase full of Mayfair, Penthouse & Fiesta girlie mags dating from the 70's & 80's.....wish I hadn't, they sell for loads of £££ now!

Regards,

Jay.

I have an old friend who owns a bodyshop/hotrod shop. I went to his shop one time to do some freelance work...pulled up...and saw that he had the body shop truck backed up to the dumpster. I asked what is going on well he was throwing away a pickup truck beds worth of penthouse and playboy's. Every penthouse from number 1. All of it starting way early 70s. I asked him where the hell did this come from...he said dude he used to work with died and he got tools and magazines. :)

I took them all. Sold them. Made surprising money.
