I am just now starting to understand why people like Northwoods so much. I got an ounce of it about a month ago when I put in a Boswell TAD order. When I first started smoking it, I was disappointed by how incredibly mild it was. I had been smoking English blends from Peretti like Omega so I was expecting a much more complex and full bodied smoke. I now realize that Northwoods is a delicate, mild yet flavorful and delicious tasting english. I have never been a cigarette smoker or an inhaling pipe smoker and I have no problem inhaling lungfuls of Northwoods. It's that smoothe.

Interesting, when I first stared smoking a pipe, Northwoods was one of the first Boswell blends I tried (I live near the shop). I didn't care for it at all, and jarred my supply in the cellar. Now, 11 months later, I've become more accustomed to lat blends and gave it another whirl. I found it now, it smoked quite well, very similar in flavor to MM965, a favorite of mine. Early on, I found the "Magnum" blend more agreeable, but now it is kind of bland (lighter English than Northwoods). I also have some Countryside in the cellar, looking forward to giving that blend a 2nd go-around.

Yeah -- Northwoods is great stuff. I was stunned that I liked it so much, as I tend to gravitate toward traditional heavy Balkans like Odyssey. But there is something about Northwoods -- maybe an oriental, maybe a topping -- that gives it a very distinctive flavor I've not found anywhere else. Positively addictive.
