Nording's Elk

What is that strange looking collar for on the Elk? I like this pipe but haven't seen one quite like that. It appears to be part of the stem.

The description is saying that it is a real horn cuff around the stem end.

Its a horn embelishment to the stem. An "accent" piece.

I have one, it is Elk bone. By the way, the pipe smokes wonderfully.

I rather like the Elk but wish it was available with a vulcanite stem.
