After feeling that there must be a very limited supply of the pipe I love to smoke the most I went in search around the internets and sent email to any vendor making queries regarding the Giant Nording Freehand Sitting Pipes. After some replies I was seriously thinking they were just going to be impossible to find and I had better just keep looking often and checking various sites, stores and online contacts.
Well, fate has a funny way of working sometimes. One of my contacts got back to me and indicated that they needed to make an order and to meet minimum they needed to spend a few hundred dollars and would need to make a bulk purchase but that in doing so they qualified for a deep discount on the wholesale price. Needless to say I agreed to make a few purchases if they could get the exact style of pipe I am after. After a bit of haggling it appears my searches are over and I will not ever need to buy another new pipe for many years after the next HUGE purchase I will make.....pictures to follow fella's. Might be a few weeks but it's going to be a mother load!

If you love smoking aromatics then I highly recommend buying this! I own these and can tell you that so far nothing I have tried smokes longer, cooler or feels better in the hand while doing so than these babies! If you have the cash I say go for it! CupO'Joes sent me an email letting me know that they have 3 pipes right now that match the dimensions I gave them with an inner chamber of 2"deep X 1" diameter!

I have two of them. They are both giants and weigh in at 4.5oz ea. One is sort of blocky looking and red stained like the ones in the pictures and the other is a more traditional style with really large proportions. I will get pictures posted soon. I am going to trade a friend of mine this weekend my laptop for a camera and some other goodies. They are like nothing I have ever smoked and so far the only curiosity left for me is the custom meer I desire. Once I get the meer and my collection of giant Nord's (like 3-4 more of them) I will stop buying pipes for years to come (or so I say).

It looks like cupo'joes is going above and beyond the normal behavior of some online sellers. The sales group contacting me again and said they are planning on getting some more pictures loaded and sent to my email showing more of the pipes at different angles. I also told them they should have more information on chamber dimensions, weight and length. Do you guys find that information important? I basically will not buy a pipe unless I can determine the chamber and weight. Usually I find that heavier is better (for me). They smoke much cooler, last longer and just feel great in the hand.

One of the reasons I never give cup of joes my business is because they are too lazy to put proper dimensions on their pipes and they show only one lousy picture. All the other places I do business with give the information I am looking for with multiple pictures of the actual pipe, not a stock mfgs photo.

I agree it is true and that is why I have not purchased from them so far. But I did manage to start emailing back and forth with them and pointing out the main reasons I have not made a purchase or taken the collection to seriously as they are so limited in the way they present the pipes. But I am amazed by the customer service (really). Melissa is who I am workign with and upon a request they have sent me dimensions, pictures and are making deals! I am told that it's not published but if you start tlaking with them and you plan to order say 100 bucks in tobacco and a new pipe they can discuss making a "deal" with you prior to commiting to a purchase. There are also shipping options available in case your not home to sign for the shipment.
I am fairly impressed by the dealings of late I am having with them but I also stressed that they really need to consider my requqests a standard they should adopt which would lend them increased sales as many of us are really picky about size, weight, dimensions and several pictures of the pipe.

I have never bought a new pipe but if I was spending that kind of money I would want to know specifics and see actual pictures of the pipe. I think I would try them but honestly pipes and cigars usually has cheaper listed prices.

john, I am way to lazy to email back and forth to find out the information I want in regards to buying a pipe. My last purchase was from smokingpipes.com, and they had all the info, great pics, so all I did was hit the order button and I was done. It is nice that they have people who will answer your questions and are friendly, but they are really hurting themselves by being lazy. There are so many pipes to not even bother looking at for me if the pipe weighs too much, I am not emailing asking if this one weighs such and such and then if it is too heavy, I have to email about another pipe, that is way too much work. Sure if they were the only game in town then I would have to do that but since there are plenty who do think of their customers time, then they don't get my business.

@cigrmaster - Oh well...I am after something you cannot find on many sites let alone local shops. This way I am working to better their site, my collection and having fun in the meanwhile. As you said it, your lazy' Me, I'm not and I am a social animal so I gab with everyone and have fun doing it!

Thanks cigrmaster, yes I have! Great deals on the Nord there too but these are the small travel pipes they offer. I guess for most smokers these are big but to me they are the perfect travel pipe. They offer a deep nice sized chamber and look amazing but they do get hot! I purcahsed a $66.00 model that I just love for driving around with but once I am seated and can hold the pipe I use my giants.
I have to say after owning some of these kinds of pipes I am passionate about the looks (more so than traditional pipes) and the weight of those $66.00 briars is amazing. They are light for the size and for smoking aromatics they are amazing. Still too big I think for smoking flakes and cakes but worth having one for driving around. One bowl in mine (2"x1"dia) last me 45min. and I pack it 3/4 full. But it get's mighty warm after 20 mintues.

john, have you looked at the old Preben Holm and Ben Wade pipes from denmark? There are tons of estate pieces that are huge and very well made. In a lot of cases you can buy buy a great estate piece for less than a new Nording.

I have. Many of them are pretty beat up and the ones that are not I always the bidding wars on. But you see I am after a sitter style and those are much harder to come buy. I am not just wanting a free hand pipe. I have become really specific. In fact the one at Cup-O'-Joes was only posted for 2 days and I wanted it bad. I called today and it had already sold. I missed it by 4 hours!!!
