I have one, it’s my kick around truck pipe. It smokes fine for me and has a smallish chamber so it’s great for runs to town. The 3 piece breakdown makes cleaning a snap but not so good for hanging the bowl out the truck window to dump ash. Yes, I have had to turn around to retrieve my bowl from the side of the road:ROFLMAO:

I have one somewhere.

I found it got really hot.

The keystone pipe is awesome though and you can remove the bowl and clean it easy enough

I think a basic utilitarian pipe is a tall order to produce in the face of MM cobs and Dr. Grabows and Kaywoodies. Making a competitor look plain and utilitarian just emphasizes the qualities of the competition. The Eltang version is even pretty expensive. Someone else worked out the beautiful fundamentals first and certainly did it a little or a lot better. There's a whaling museum in upstate NY where they depict a whaling sailor's sea chest including a pipe and tobacco in a string bag, and for the pipe they chose a MM hardwood, which I thought was impressively astute. That was probably what a journeyman whaling ship sailor had, that or clay.

My briar version can get a little warm at the end but the "Sailor" version always smokes very cool in the hand. I dont like them better than my Dr. Grabows but the are great for leaving in the truck or throwing on the work bench
