You're vastly lucky. This was rolled out across Great Britain about 3 or 4 years ago, with little strong opposition. It essentially destroyed any kind of pipe club that existed, because there's now knowhere to meet at all. I can still smoke within the comfort of my own home, but come winter time, or rain, it's extremely frustrating to have to shiver outside with one or two other people like I'm doing something wrong.

I feel very sorry that there was not this kind of opposition to a smoking ban in my own nearby city last year, when a blanket ban passed by a 3 to 1 margin in a city-wide referendum. :x
