I have several pipes here that have no brand stamp and often no COM stamp. Many of these pipes are perfectly flawless and excellent examples of the pipemaker's art as well as being great smokers.
My question is why should this be? It is not because the stampings have been sanded off during a refurb, a quick inspection under the microscope shows no evidence of any stamping ever being there so why would a factory produce pipes and not stamp them?
As I write I am smoking a gorgeous and huge (7 1/2 inch) oval shanked Canadian that has marvellous flame grain all over the bowl yet has no stampings and it just got me thinking.
Regards,
Jay.
