I guess this kind of fits in with the "are you a meticulous smoker thread" but needed to vent
Ever happen to anyone or similar pain in the ass moments? please share...
I get to cleaning a pipe, and on second clearing the cleaner through the shank toward draught hole only to find some remnant tobacco in there? man I hate it and I'll tell you why -
I already assume the pipe is clean, I put the pipe down to get those last bits out with a paper towel or another pipe cleaner and then my attention goes to something else and I completely forget about it leaving that last bit of old stale tobacco scrap saturated in alcohol in the chamber - then reload(I typically don't inspect bowls while loading) to only realize it was left in the bowl prior to filling

Wouldn’t bother me in the least. That’s a good start on the next bowl and a little less fresh tobacco I have to use!

I lightly wipe the chamber with a napkin/paper towel, then run a cleaner through it, then blow through the stem, making sure it’s clear.

I like to take care of the wood on my Briar, so when I’m done smoking I always whip out the Ole Dunhill cloth and give the bowl and shank a nice wipe down to protect it.

I’m not sure I’d say I’m nitpicking or ocd, but I like to keep pipes clean and protected.

You forget to clean the mortise. That's where the crap builds up. I know, it means taking pipe apart. But a real man shines the bottom of the boots!

P.i.t.a. moments? Screw tobacco bits. How about pipe "juice" running back into your mouth due to inexperience? I remember those days. Vividly. How about losing the ember, or "cherry," in your lap while driving, watching it nestle down by your balls? How about dropping a pipe with an acrylic stem and a diabolically perfect angle on an unforgiving hardwood floor? I've snapped at least two that way. How about having a Dunhill pouch swiped because some flaming sphincter thought it was a wallet? How about being pulled over by a cop because he thought you were lighting up a crack pipe? ("Your plate didn't match the car." Bullshit, Lawdawg.)

I'm sure there are others. I'll let you know. ?
