Ordered my first pouch of St. Bruno several months ago and it arrived from 2016. Crystals, with a hint of vinegar and floral, very very tasty!

Ordered three more pouches and they arrived from 2024. Now, they're good...but they aren't 2016 good.

Now, is the tendency to receive nine year old Bruno an anomaly? Curious how and why this happened - - and why it didn't happen with my recent order.

P.S. Separate question. Why don't most producers sell aged, tinned/pouched tobacco?

I suppose it depends on what shop you ordered it from, but from what I can tell 9 year old new old stock from a retailer is an anomaly. My guess would be that was a pouch they found that had been lost for years behind some royal yacht tins.

Must have been mislaid and you were the lucky recipient. Stores don't leave tins sitting around because it costs them money. Sometimes a less well known blend sits on the shelves for a few years.

Most blends undergo aging before being tinned and distributed so that the distributed blend represents what the blender intends it to taste like.
