I’ve tried to find info on the Scotte pipes that I have purchased before I found this site and the wonderful other online retailers.
Scotte has one blurb I could find and it claimed they are dangerous China made pipes.? Can anyone enlighten me more on these pipes?

I don't know much about ebony wood pipes, but if you're willing to spend $50 or so, there are a few briar options. Savinelli Unfinished are great, and Rossi(made by Savinelli) are a good choice as well. Scott's Pipes Burner series is actually on sale at TobaccoPipes.com for $25 right now and would be a good choice at that price for sure. Corn cob pipes by Missouri Meerschaum are also great budget pipes.

There is one member here who smokes ebony wood pipes and recommends Chinese made pipes. Not sure they have much of a following outside of him, though. Do a search for "ebony" in the upper right and you'll see some posts pertaining to them.
