Good Morning All,

Happy to join this forum. I've been a pipe smoker for five years now. Got into the hobby because it reminds me of my dad. Still have fond memories of being a kid and smelling the sweet, aromatic scent of pipe smoke in the air. It brings me great comfort, as I'm sure it does to many on this forum. I've built quite the pipe collection; Ser Jacopo, Savinelli, Peterson, Comoy, etc. My favorite is my Neerup P. Jeppesen Boutique (photo attached). My favorite tobacco is Dr. Bradley from Iwan & Ries. I live in the Chicago suburbs, and when I visit Iwan & Ries, I'm like a kid in a candy store. Definitely worth checking out, if you guys are ever in Chicago.

I'm excited to connect with you guys, make some new friends, and learn more about this great hobby.

Hope everyone is staying healthy and safe during this pandemic.

P.S. ~ Does anyone know of a good actual print magazine on pipes and pipe collecting?

Best,

Andrew

Welcome to the forum from Chicago! What burb you in Andrew? Ever since Pipes & Tobaccos closed there really isn't a good print magazine. This site and and few others are the best for info.

Welcome, from the sunny Southwest!

Check out the North American Society of Pipe Collector's (NASPC) The Pipe Collector at naspc.org. A worthy publication. Cheers!

Hey haunted,

I'm from the Northwest Suburbs (Lake Zurich). Thanks for the info regarding the magazine. I figured as much. It's a shame such a wonderful hobby isn't as popular as it once was. I'm glad this forum is available to keep it alive!

His town is right there in his profile, Lake Zurich, not far from where I was born.

I encourage putting it in, as it obviates a lot of questions.

You can put your location in your Profile, which will save questions in the future as to where you live should you mention local stores, weather, tobacco prices, availability, regulations, location of photos of surroundings, and so forth. Under your avatar, (top right, left most of three symbols) you choose "Account Details, which brings up "My Account". "My Location" is halfway down.

Sorry, jpmcwjr. I hadn't posted my location on my profile before posting on this thread. I have added some details now. Where were you born?

Have a nice Tuesday!

Welcome! Great area, Lake Zurich.

And Iwan Ries rocks. I had just a few minutes last time in Chicago for a run up the steps to Iwan Ries to look at estates. Cost my a parking ticket as the m-f Chicago PD doesn't honor out of state Handicap Placards. Bastards! But it was worth it.
