So I have had calabash on order form my B & M for a few months now and it's still not there, but since I have PAD, TAD, and OCD I bought this not-so-little rusticated Roma panel to hold me over the 2 weeks till it gets here. Being an impulse buyer, I clearly HAD (YES! HAD!) to get a new tin to burn in it, so I got some Sutliff French Quarter... Sorry if the pics suck, the pipe is black as night and the bowl is huge so I had a hard time getting pics that worked. I can almost fit that quarter down the bowl and its just under 2 inches deep...

Thanks guy! My first pipe was a roma and it's a little workhorse... I'll put it to work tmrw, I'm meeting with some friends at our local shop to smoke and shoot the breeze. Should be a good time! I plan on running 3 or 4 bowls through it at least.
I'm planing on dedicating it to burley blends...

I think panels are interesting pipes, a little under the radar and that's good. The Roma's a good one. Saw an

unfinished hexagonal panel, bent unfinished pipe at my local independent, with a rough spot on the bottom

of the bowl, but pretty appealing anyway. But my real impulse is toward a foursquare, with the panels and

the stem pretty much squared off. Dunhill is the only pipe maker who really specializes in these. Everyone

else does them as unusual shapes. I hope they don't get extra popular; their somewhat rare occurrence adds

to their appeal. foggymountain has nine, count 'em, nine Dunhill panels he's had for years. He likes 'em

because they're all sitters, when you smoke when you work, a real plus. A medium size Dunhill panel today

goes for $700 plus new. I don't think I'm in the market for that one.
