Now that I have my new pipe. I purchased a used 70's Dunhill in decent condition. What tobacco would be rated a medium flavor. I always enjoy an aromatic smell. I love cigars with s strong smoke. I went to my local shop and noted a small selection of tobacco. I picked up some Cavendish and an English mix.
Looks like I'll be more successful online sourcing tobacco. Any recommendations for online sellers.
Thanks.

Here’s a great site to research pipe tobacco http://www.tobaccoreviews.com
I like all tobacco. However, I’m an English fan. Anything Dunhill or GL Pease
A couple of VaPers I love are Escudo and Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye Flake.

This time last year I would have recommended Frog Morton's Cellar (R.I.P.).

Ebay has it, but it'll cost you an arm and a leg, possibly a third limb as well.

Definitely check out tobacco reviews and go from there. There are lots of options for you.
I'm here to hijack again, but is there a method for searching when you're new to all this, other than systematically reading the reviews for every conceivable tobacco until you read one you like the sound of?
Let's say, as in my case, I like a mild smoke with creamy vanilla notes/tastes. How would I narrow that search down?

When you click on the Search tab, the page should show the Advanced section with three fields: Brand, Blend Type and Avg. Rating. Directly under those are the words, "Show More Search Fields". Click on that and a long list of different fields will appear. You will be able to narrow your search down by using those fields.

Go to TobaccoReviews.com

Click on "Search"

Under Advanced...click on "show more search fields"

Then search flavors, strength, blend type...

When I started out I began by selecting blends from each type, such as an English, a Virginia, Burley, Aromatic, etc. to get an idea of what each was like. I then just kept expanding from there in each category until I determined what appealed the most to me. There are so many to choose from, which is a big part of the enjoyment.

Aromatic blends which are flavored with a vast variety of flavors -- vanilla, chocolate, Irish whiskey, bourbon, etc. etc. -- tend to be mild or medium strength, that is, lower in nicotine and in actual tobacco flavor. The tobacco reviews are an excellent source, but you can learn a lot browsing through the tobacco pages of online retailers and reading the constituent tobaccos of blends and other specs. For the first two years or so I'd buy in small quantities, an ounce, a pouch, and a tin at at time. What you don't like, go ahead and jar and try again in about a year; the aging may help, and your tastes will change decidedly. Hope this helps. Welcome aboard.

Likewise with pipes. You'll probably want at least a modest rotation, three or four pipes. You may only want estate (used) or up-market pipes to go with your Dunny, but if you are more flexible, an MM cob (I like the ones that come with stock Vulcanite or acrylic stems) or one of the Stanwells (or Big Bens, or Nordings, etc.) would give you a feel for new pipes and how a new purchase goes. I came to estate pipes late (except for my own well-worn estate-like pipes), but both are worthy and of interest.

You mentioned in the original posting about online sellers. I think the two biggest sellers that I would recommend are pipes and cigars and smoking pipes, depending upon where you live of course. As for choices, I would normally point people in the direction of Dunhill tobaccos because I think that they provide an excellent baseline to some of the main genres. Unfortunately, they are gone. The recommendations mentioned above are your soundest option. Would love to hear back when you make your decisions
