Cig smokers ruin it for all smokers because of their incessant litter habits, they just have zero concern for anything. In my younger days ,I had to pick up after them daily, cursing them every time I picked a friggin butt up. Like pulling up to a stop sign and seeing hundreds of butts that have been thrown down by those worthless pieces of feces.
Agreed 100%, we can basically blame ever single piece of anti-smoking legislation in the country on cigarette smokers and their inconsiderate, filthy, chemical addiction that turns the health, medical, and nonsmoking communities against us.
The likelihood of anyone ever complaining about my pipe in public is absolutely zero. I am considerate when smoking around others and more often than not, I get compliments if someone notices.
Look down around every restaurant entrance. Cigarette butts everywhere. Those "smoking towers" too, which are sort of a fire hazard and stink like a hundred ashtrays. Who wants that in their communities? Even I don't.
I think pipe smokers need to get militant and kidnap all cigarette smokers and take them to re-education camps where they are forced to convert to pipe smoking. We can call it the Pipe Liberation Front. Just get a huge plot of land out in Nebraska someplace and set up a pipe re-education camp. I'm serious. Waterboard their asses. Imagine what this country would be like with no cigarette smokers. It would be freakin amazing. We wouldn't have the garbage and litter, other people would actually like the smell of smoking, and all the laws would be repealed.
As an ex cigarette smoker I was always mindful to field strip my butts and throw the filters away or put them in my pocket until I found a trash can. Early morning police calls in the Army taught me that.
Adam12: the litter aspect for me is just such a visual turnoff, and makes me want to start writing letters to lawmakers, while highlighting how much more they should be taxed for just the cost of the rest of society having to clean up their litter. They give me a splitting headache, must be from the formaldehyde, or the ammonia, or the hydrogen cyanide. You always hear the normal response to pipe tobacco smell in public as being " just like my Grandpa's "......I think I'll start smoking in public more with some 1Q in it, just to promote the concept.
It would be great if somehow we could get it across the difference between cigarette smokers and pipe smokers. Unfortunately, for a host of reasons the general public has lumped us all together as tobacco smokers. The anti-tobacco fanatics have smelled blood in the water like a primitive shark does. Yes we should stand up for our rights but not to a point that we ourselves appear to be a bunch of militant, fanatic freaks. Such an image (to me) would do more harm than good. On those occasions where I feel I can influence even one individual I try to do so in a way that particular person can relate to at some level. Every gain, no matter how small is worthwhile and we have to keep chipping away at it. For myself I hope I enjoy a bowl or two on the very day I die.
