Hello,

First post.

I work at a cigar/ pipe shop and recently found an "old" pipe that was misplaced and basically hidden for a long time.

It is a bent poker and says "Invicta England" "Hand Made Colin Fromm 99". It is very nice and you can tell it is hand made.

Can anyone give me any information on this?

I am just starting out my pipe collection and this would be one of the first ones. Is it a "good" pipe? What do these pipes go for? Is the 99 the year it was made?

Any information would be very helpful!

It's an older version of what they sell now currently. I think Collin was the previous owner/craftsman. It is a very fine pipe indeed. I'd definitely hope more experienced folks would weigh in on this.

Yes, I will need to take one of it tomorrow. It's a really nice looking pipe too. I just don't know much about pipes and wondered if this would be a good pick up or not. I also wondered how old it was too. I think the 99 is probably the year it was made.

You could also email the folks at Invicta Briars of England. Peter Ellam I believe took over for Collin when he retired.

Yes I did email them just before I posted on here. I am pretty anxious to find out so I figured i would join and see if anyone heard of this brand or knew anything about them.

Thanks for the site. I did look at that site before I posted and it does have the marking of the horse just like in the picture. Tomorrow I will get a pic of it. Is $140 a good price for it? It was originally marked for $265 and that was years ago.

It all depends on condition and what the market is for that pipe right now. Collectors tend to run in spurts for certain makers.

I have an modern Invicta bulldog (what else?), and although the materials and workmanship are just a notch or two above a basket pipe, it's a fine smoker. I think I paid just a bit more than $50.00, which, considering its performance, is a fair price.
